Each year, WikiConference North America (WCNA) brings together hundreds of Wikimedians — educators, librarians, technologists, and volunteers — who are shaping the Wikimedia movement across the continent. This year, WCNA will take place in New York City from October 16–19, and Wiki Education is excited to join. For our organization, this gathering isn’t just another conference. It’s an essential opportunity for our staff to connect, learn, and share as part of the larger Wikimedia ecosystem.
Wiki Education plays a unique role in the Wikimedia world, connecting higher education and subject-matter experts with open knowledge. At WCNA, our staff meet with others who share our mission of expanding access to reliable, open information. These relationships help us align our work with others in the movement and identify new opportunities for collaboration. We also present our work, discuss what’s working, and learn from others who are experimenting with innovative tools and community engagement strategies. The exchange of ideas helps us all strengthen our collective impact.
We look forward to presenting the following sessions in New York:
- Faculty Experiences Teaching with Wikipedia: A panel with instructors Tony Wilson, Ximena Gallardo C., David Cregar, Malavika Shetty, and Jennifer Jones, facilitated by Wiki Education’s Brianda Felix
