We are proud to announce that Lorraine Hariton, of Wiki Education’s Board, has been named President & CEO of Catalyst, a global nonprofit working with some of the world’s most powerful CEOs and leading companies to help build workplaces that work for women. Although we are sorry to see a valued member of our Board go, we are excited for this next chapter in her career and are grateful for the expertise and passion that she has shared during her time working with us.
When Lorraine joined Wiki Education’s Board in August of 2014, we didn’t even have a permanent office. There were just a few of us, all working remotely, with a shared passion for open knowledge and a vision of the equitable future that a resource like Wikipedia could help build. As our staff and our impact have rapidly grown, Lorraine’s sound advice to me has been invaluable.
Lorraine has shown a dedication to the advancement of women throughout her career, with no exception in her work on Wiki Education’s Board. Her commitment to making the technology field more inclusive of women is well aligned with Wiki Education’s mission to close the gender gap on Wikipedia. Whether it be on Wikipedia, the world’s leading informational resource, or in the workforce — representation and equity are important for the advancement and wellbeing of all. We are excited to follow Lorraine’s continuing commitment to these values at Catalyst and thank her for her service on our Board.
