Wikidata, the linked open data counterpart to Wikipedia, offers powerful and impactful opportunities for sharing information. Why does it matter for cultural institutions and how can it supercharge their collections data? Join Wiki Education’s “Wikidata Will” and his expert panelists from across the country for our next Speaker Series to find out!

From dance choreography to comics, we’ll explore what exactly happens when you share collection data through Wikidata, how the process can elevate the profile of a collection, and how to actually pull off a project.

Panelists:

  • Kate Topham, Digital Scholarship Specialist, University of Michigan Library
  • Samie Konet, Dance Audio and Moving Image Cataloger, Special Collections Processing, New York Public Library
  • Crystal Yragui, LD4, Metadata Librarian & Interim Co-Head, Metadata & Cataloging Initiatives Unit, University of Washington Libraries

This edition of the Wiki Education Speaker Series will be moderated by “Wikidata Will” Kent, Wiki Education’s Scholars & Scientists Program Manager.

The event will include a public Q&A. We encourage you to bring questions for the panelists!
