The 2015 Paris Agreement led to 196 countries adopting the first-ever global climate change treaty, aimed at reducing greenhouse gases and a rising global temperature. In implementation, finance lies at the center of the Paris Agreement, as climate solutions require funding from both the public and private sectors in order to be radical and successful. How have different nations responded to this commitment and approached funding for climate resiliency?
Research shows Wikipedia content influences tourism, scientists, and even judges’ legal rulings. Yet specific information about the different global approaches to climate finance is sparse. As a part of Wiki Education’s 2024 Climate Finance Initiative, we’re looking to bring together climate finance experts about various regions to document different countries’ current landscapes when it comes to funding and investing in climate mitigation. In our virtual course, participants will learn about the ins and outs of adding high-quality academic knowledge to Wikipedia. In the process, they will create the first stages of articles about climate finance in the United States or any other country.
Ready to make information about global approaches to climate finance more accessible to the public, including policymakers and the next generation of change-makers? Reserve your spot now to make a huge impact!
The Wiki Scientists course

From October 8- December 2, 2024, Wiki Scientists will attend a series of virtual classes facilitated by Wiki Education’s Wikipedia experts. Each participant should expect to add or expand at least one Wikipedia article documenting climate finance within a country or region.
